Our last weekend at the house

Well we've just had the last weekend in our current rented property (although I went out most of yesterday! We headed up to Reading on Saturday to get painting supplies and to have a look at some new DVD players. Didn't get one though... I'm a fussy git when it comes to things like that!
I would say that we are probably around 60% packed, Debbie spent some time in the garden, collecting all the pots and stuff that we are going to take to the new house.
It's strange to thing that that was probably the last easy weekend were going to have for quite a while! The next few weeks are pretty manic with the move, a wedding, a work teambuilding event and then 3 days at Cebit in Hannover (Germany)
I spent Sunday with the ATC (Air Training Corps) at RAF Benson. We took a group up for flying and were also ment to be shooting the L98a1 on the range, unfortunatly in the ultimate wisdom of the MOD someone had removed part of the fence around the range and left it unusable. So we just go the cadets doing to training on the weapons, so it didn't end up a wasted day!
I have two really busy days at work now, getting ready for being out of the office for just over two weeks from Wednesday!

We've exchanged!

Well the day that we never thought we would get to happened yesterday.
We exchanged on the new house and should have the keys on Wednesday :O)

Now the real manic time begins (changing registrations etc..) and of course the moving part!

Contract Excahnge?

Well today we should be exchanging contracts on the new house. We'll then have a 100% confirmed move date! (Hopefully Friday 24th Feb!)
So this means that things in the house will be steping up a gear to make things easier when we do need to start shifting boxes to the new place!
I think that the first job this coming weekend is to get the main bedroom re-decorated and cleaned, so we will have somewhere to escape to when things get really crazy in the rest of the house!
As a result of the move the weekend has been pretty busy! Saturday was spent moving boxes for the ATC Sqn move to our new temporary location whilst the old cadet building is demolished and our new HQ is built. It's a shame to see the old building going after all the years that 211 sqn have been based there (at last 25 years!!)We managed to sucessfully move everything out of the overcrowded building and have have a chance to get things organised so that when the new (smaller) building is finished we can actually fit everything in!!
Yesterday I decided that I really needed to tackle the loft... This wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be. LIke most loft's everything that isn't wanted gets dumped up there, so I managed to sift through the half filled boxes and sort stuff out a bit. I have another couple of bags to take to the tip later on today.

House buying frustrations!

Well I'm still in the awfull process of buying a house, and to be honest I'm finding the whole thing so frustrating!!
Lines of communication between all the parties take forever to pass a message on!! Documents have to be posted, people contacted etc... It seems like most of the process is waiting for something to arrive...
They say that buying a house is stressfull... earlier on in our purchase I wondered what people were on about... now I know.

We just want to get started. Were 4 months down the line and still not in! The latest date for completion was ment to be this Friday (17th feb) but thats now fallen by the wayside because the solicitor has taken 2 days off and "forgot to tell me" on friday when she was ment to call me back. I spoke to one of the partners there yesterday, but it was very obvious that he didn't want to help. So this debarkle has added 2 days to it all, Friday isn't going to happen!

P'd off isn't the word... I'm just glad that we haven't booked a removals firm to move our stuff!

Impress her on Valentines

So Valentines is coming up. Another typical example of an over commercialised event. I guess that there is no escape from the retil sector making a massive song and dance about anything they can!
Restarants love this whole day too! They can double their prices and half the amount of food served and call it (a-la-carte!)

With all this in mind I still had to get something for the other half. There is a level of expectation to meet....

Bankers....

No matter which bank you are with the picture below is so true!
Banks are there to simply take your money! I pay £7 a month for them to look after MY money, this needs a level of trust from the customer to the bank... what trust does the bank have for the customer??? Well lets just say they still chain the shite biro pens to the desk.....

I see that Barclays are rebranding, they have set their pens free and removed the chains and they are renaming the counters to be more friendly! Cash machines are now " Hole in the wall" machines.... Bureau de Change is now " Travel money" . . . . it actually looks like Barclays are rebranding for complete muppets.... is that how they see their customers? ?

I also read that Barclaycard customers who cover their whole balance each month will have less time to pay the amount... I guess barclays needs the £20 late payment charges to fund it's remedial rebrand...

Friday! :O)

Well Friday is finally here!!

As you can see from my last entry I have been pretty busy with work lately!
I've finally found some time to get onto the blog site and get something updated!

Were finally moving along with the house purchase, in fact whilst writing this I have just taken a call from our solicitor. It seems that we will be completing on the 17th Feb! Fingers crossed. Of course I'll update on here!

So with the move now in sight its time to get packing the old house up! I have to collect a load of boxes from my brother over the weekened.

The weekend is also a busy one. We have an ATC (Air Training Corps) open day on Sunday, so some time tomorrow will be spent getting everything ready for Sunday. It should be a good day, we've put loads of work into it this year, the cadets really have done well!

Till next time.....
